PAROMA-MED at European AI & Cybersecurity Network “CrossTalk”
On 23rd Oct the EU funded project Paroma-Med participated at the CROSSTALK Event organized by the European AI Security Network (EASiNet) . Our Technical co-ordinator Konstantinos Koutsopoulos, from Qualtek SRL chaired the session on FEDERATED LEARNING ADOPTION AND RELATED CERTIFICATION IN THE MEDICAL DATA SCENARIO”. He was joined at the cross talk by Paroma-med consortium partners namely Reda Bellafqira (IMT-Atlantique) presenting on “Detecting & Preventing Data Leaks through Watermarking“and Katarzyna Kapusta (Thales Group) presenting on “Protecting ownership rights in Federated Learning using ML watermarking”. This event was a great opportunity to exchange ideas and concepts among ten projects but most importantly to take a step towards what Key Strategic Objectives and Programme Destinations may actually be. It was also a great chance to discuss with the invited ENISA and EU Commision, DGConnect, DGSante representatives and learn at first hand more details about the AI Act, personal data protection in EU Data Spaces and about the main principles of the EHDS.
The key takeaways from the perspective of PAROMA-MED are that the project ideas and outcomes remain valid and valuable and address with an original and prototypical way the aspect of personal consent by technically enforcing the data subject options, complement the current research landscape both from the perspective of contribution to the data science dimension (data and model watermarking algorithms, federated learning, PSI) but also from architectural viewpoint. For the latter, the use of Data Space connectors and the combination with FHIR can make PAROMA-MED one of the pioneers to offer GDPR compliance that is technically enforced and verifiable at real time.
